Premier weddings, events and golf venue Hawkesyard Estate near Lichfield has created new jobs and launched a new website in the last few weeks. Following a very successful Christmas Party season their weddings and corporate events bookings are growing strongly.
Hawkesyard put the improvement in business down to a renewed focus on staff development, training and investment in marketing activity.
The new staff appointments are in events operations, with the creation of a new Duty Manager role and in the accounts department with a new Accounts Assistant role. Events Administration Manager, Sarah Carter said “The new team members joined us in December and early January at the height of the Christmas Party season, their experience and professionalism has been invaluable at what is an incredibly busy time of the year for us.”
Hawkesyard used local businesses to create their new website that went live mid-December. The website was totally re-designed and re-written, making it easier for visitors to find information about weddings, meetings and events and Hawkesyard Golf Club which is also part of the estate. The content and design of the site makes it easier for search engines to find making it easier for people to view Hawkesyard Estate online.
The website project was managed by Hawkesyard’s marketing consultancy Roar Marketing Limited from Tamworth and Lichfield based web professionals JFD Consultants. The project was completed in just six weeks, on time and on budget. Sarah Carter continued “We had wanted to improve our on-line presence for a while, and are incredibly pleased with our new website. We have already had meetings with several new brides-to-be that got engaged at Christmas and contacted us after visiting the new website. So it has already had a positive impact on business.”
Hawkesyard Estate is located just 10 minutes drive from Lichfield in the Staffordshire country-side. It has been the home of several well known local people including Nathaniel Lister and Josiah Spode IV of the famous Stoke-on-Trent pottery dynasty. The estate includes the grade II listed Hawkesyard Hall and Hawkesyard Golf Club.
Hawkesyard Hall with its stunning 19th century Gothic style architecture complete with battlements and pinnacles and surrounded by beautifully manicured gardens, is home to many local businesses. It is one of Staffordshire’s foremost venues for meetings, indoor and outdoor events and a sought-after wedding location for both civil ceremonies and receptions.
The popular Hawkesyard Golf Club is a championship 18 hole parkland golf course with modern club house and member’s facilities. With its relaxed atmosphere Hawkesyard has a thriving membership and welcomes visitors, societies and corporate clients.
Hawkesyard Golf Club, part of the prestigious Hawkesyard Estate in Staffordshire, is the first golf club in Europe to install a revolutionary new buggy path surface developed in the United States.
The first 40 yards of Flexi®-Pave, which is manufactured from old car tyres, gravel and a patented compound, has been laid on the 10th hole at Hawkesyard with plans to upgrade the buggy paths around the whole course.
Richard Thwaites, Head Greenkeeper at Hawkesyard explained why Flexi®-Pave was chosen instead of tarmac or concrete. “It’s environmentally friendly and it’s a great surface to drive golf buggies on but from a maintenance point of view, its flexible so tree roots don’t damage it, its resistant to frost so doesn’t crack, it doesn’t let weeds through and; it’s extremely porous.” Flexi®-Pave is a very well established product usually found at war memorial sites, in children’s playgrounds and in the grounds of old people’s homes. Hawkesyard is well known as a golf course that rarely closes owing to poor weather and the installation of Flexi®-Pave is part of their ongoing investment in the golf course and its facilities for the benefit of their members and visiting golfers.
Phil Gibson, former Director of Golf at Hawkesyard commented “We were really impressed by the environmental credentials of Flexi®-Pave. The entire Hawkesyard Estate and Hawkesyard Golf Club, is committed to using “green” resources and recycled products. We’ve learned that the recycling of car tyres is the worst kind of tyre to recycle and Flexi®-Pave’s manufacturing process consumes vast quantities of these tyres which is great for the environment. We are delighted to be the first golf club in Europe to install this state-of-the art surface on our buggy paths and we’ve already welcomed the green’s staff from two nearby world famous golf clubs to take a look!”
Owing to its slip resistant and impact absorbing properties, the roll out of the specialist Flexi®-Pave surface to the rest of the buggy paths at Hawkesyard will focus on areas of high traffic and worn surfaces.
